Eckermann Engineering, Inc.

Eckermann Engineering, Inc. (“EEI”) was founded by Derrek Eckermann, P.E. in 2008 and is located in Lampasas, Texas. Mr. Eckermann is a 1997 graduate of Lampasas ISD and 2001 graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station where he received a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Prior to starting EEI, Mr. Eckermann worked for seven years at a state-wide civil engineering consulting firm in Austin and Dallas. While at his previous employment, Mr. Eckermann obtained a great deal of design experience working on various types of projects including roadway widening and reconstruction, water and wastewater systems, hike and bike trails, sidewalks, site development, and utility coordination on many large projects throughout the state.

In 2008, Mr. Eckermann decided it was time to move closer to home and family, so he started EEI from his father’s workshop. After about a year of doing small miscellaneous engineering jobs, Mr. Eckermann signed his first significant contract with the City of Lampasas for continuing civil engineering consulting services. The City of Lampasas remains one of EEI’s top Clients to this date.

In 2012, Sam Walker, P.E., LEED AP, another Lampasas ISD and Texas A&M graduate, joined the firm as a partner. Mr. Walker and Mr. Eckermann grew up together and studied Civil Engineering together at A&M. During college they had always joked about partnering and starting an engineering firm in Lampasas, so the addition of Mr. Walker was only natural. After undergraduate, Mr. Walker completed a Masters in Finance and then worked for a nationwide civil engineering firm in Austin, where he was able to serve many national Clients, municipalities, and local developers.

In 2014, EEI constructed a new office building overlooking Sulphur Creek just to the east of Key Avenue. Eckermann Engineering currently consists of four employees, all with Lampasas County ties and hopes to increase that number over the next few years. EEI provides full service civil engineering services for federal, state, local, and private sector clients across the State of Texas. A sample of some of the Client’s EEI and its employees have served include:
