The Lampasas Public Library is the only public library in Lampasas County but is solely funded by the City of Lampasas. The library is housed in a building dating back to the early 1960s. The most recent renovation was done in 2014, in which a meeting room, new shelving, an etched window, a beautiful new front desk, a vending machine, and a new zero client setup for public computers were added.

The approximately 7000 square foot building holds over 27,000 books, audiobooks, DVDs, magazines, and microfilm. The library also has wifi hotspots available for checkout. Each month, an average of about 5,000 people visit the library.

Throughout the year, the library offers programs for all ages such as storytimes for the little ones, summer reading programs for kids and teens, and various programs for adults including a monthly book club, craft class, and 42 Club (a domino game), just to name a few.

Besides checking out materials, cardholders can also access over 60 TexShare databases covering a range of topics – from literature and genealogy to hobbies and car repair. Also available are free Internet computer use, print/copy service, fax/scan service, test proctoring, and more. Interlibrary Loan service, in which the library borrows books for individuals from other libraries, is also available.

As a member of the Central Texas Digital Consortium, Lampasas Public Library joins over 50 other libraries in purchasing downloadable materials to share. So besides the 27,000 items available within the library, cardholders also have access to an additional 25,000 e-books, e-audiobooks, etc.

With its close proximity to downtown, library visitors are within walking distance of the Lampasas County Museum as well as the Hanna Springs swimming pool and sculpture garden.

The Lampasas Public Library is a full-service library for all the residents of the Lampasas area. The Lampasas Public Library provides library services and public Internet access for the City of Lampasas and people in the surrounding area.

Any adult may obtain a library card with some valid form of identification and proof of residence. Children younger than 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the application, acknowledging responsibility for the child.
